These 12 hotels in New York are perfect for a citytrip with kids!
The amount of hotels in New York is huge. We knew that when we were preparing our trip! Fortunately, it's hard to find a bad location in New York. The subway system is so extensive that you can get anywhere in no time. It's also easy to find your way around on foot, so we made a list of nice hotels in New York . The convenient thing about finding a hotel in America is that many hotels are equipped with 2 double beds, so as a family you can easily turn a room with 2 queen-size beds into a family room. Please note that we are not looking for children's hotels, we are looking for nice hotels where we would like to stay as a family.
GRADUATE ROOSEVELT ISLAND
The first hotel is already the one where we stayed during our stay in New York. It is located on Roosevelt Island, an island in the middle of the East River. You can easily get downtown by subway or the cable car (Roosevelt Island Tramway) that connects the island to Manhattan. The location is a little less hectic than right downtown, but I wouldn't choose it for that. What we especially liked: the view of the New York skyline at sunrise. You obviously don't see that skyline if you stay downtown.
MOXY NYC TIMES SQUARE
Then again, this hotel is right in the center (which is super cool!). You will find the Moxy hotel chain a few times in this list, because for us it is the vibe we are looking for in a hotel in New York.
FAIRFIELD INN & SUITES BY MARRIOTT NEW YORK
In the middle of Manhattan, between Times Square and Chelsea. There is no better location for exploring on foot. Add to that the practical decor and some American vibes and you have yourself a fine hotel (at a ditto price!)
HYATT PLACE NYC CHELSEA
You have those chains that you just know what to expect. Hyatt is one of those. Always solid, always up to date. With hotels in different categories, you know you can expect a business hotel at Hyatt Place, ideal for a city trip. The decor is understated but elegant and you'll never be disappointed. A solid stay in a good location (Chelsea is super chill)!)
THE NEW YORKER, A WYNDHAM HOTEL
Art Deco and New York? If you love the NEw York vibes anno 1930, this is already music to your ears. Less than 1 km from Times Square! We were already triggered by the atmosphere in the pictures. We are curious to see if the atmosphere will live up to our expectations (I think so).
HYATT PLACE NEW YORK CITY/TIMES SQUARE
Another Hyatt Place in the New York-list, for those who really do consider that location near Times Square a must. You know what Hyatt PLace means; simple, but stylish and most likely squeaky clean.
RIU PLAZA NEW YORK TIMES SQUARE
Located just in Times Square, this hotel offers everything you need to feel like a top tourist in New York. This hotel made selection also because we want to make you aware that you can also just book New York as a package tour (flight+hotel).
HOTEL BELLECLAIRE CENTRAL PARK
This hotel is located in the beautiful Upper West Side of New York, in the direction of Central Park and the Natural History Museum of New York (which really seems to be worth it, so we have to go back again!) The wooden floors give a homely feeling, here you can really come home. The decor is exactly what we expect from New York. Good hotel, good location, good vibe!
RENAISSANCE NEW YORK MIDTOWN HOTEL
A beautiful hotel in the middle of the city. Blessed views, a restaurant bar open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and beautiful rooms. The price is a bit higher, but in our opinion well worth it if (like us) you do like a better hotel experience. If a hotel is just a necessary evil for you to sleep in, it's best to skip this one. This is also where you come for the hotel experience in New York!
THE EVELYN NOMAD
The NoMad neighborhood is near Broadway, so in the center-center of the city. The hotel is beautifully decorated (not for nothing it is called a boutique hotel) It is a super hip neighborhood with plenty of beautiful buildings, fancy restaurants and luxury hotels. The facade and entrance alone. This is the New York from the movies!
MOXY NYC CHELSEA
At the very beginning of this article, I had mentioned that the Moxy name would return again, right? Well here we are with it. This hotel is located in our favorite Chelsea, a super cool neighborhood where there is plenty to do from where you can also easily reach the rest of the city. Here too: atmosphere and coziness are totally on point!
MOXY NYC LOWER EAST SIDE
For those who prefer to stay a little lower in the city, we have -of course- chosen another hotel from the Moxy chain. They are all equally nice, it's just up to you to choose which New York location you would prefer to stay at!
